Activists embrace, pray at SC Department of Corrections as Freddie Owens is executed
The night before Owens’ execution, dozens attended a vigil held in remembrance of Owens. The vigil also recognized Irene Graves, Christopher Lee and their families. Owens was accused of shooting and killing Graves in 1997. After he was convicted, he confessed to killing Lee, who was his cellmate.
