Pérez's killer, Yolanda Saldívar, has filed for parole nearly 30 years after fatally shooting the Latin pop star on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Prosecutors said the president of Selena’s fan club killed the Grammy award-winning singer after a confrontation over embezzled funds.

The woman convicted of killing Grammy Award winning Selena Quintanilla has filed for parole nearly three decades after the murder. Yolanda Saldívar, who was the 23-year-old's business associate and president of her fan club, killed Quintanilla on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Saldívar was president of the singer’s fan club and the manager of two of her clothing boutiques. She shot and killed Quintanilla Pérez at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Mar. 31, 1995. The “Como La Flor” singer was 23.

Yolanda Saldívar gunned down the singer after it was discovered she'd been embezzling money from her boutiques.

Saldívar, now 64 years-old, was sentenced to life in prison on Oct. 26, 1995, with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

Kelly James Toop, 64, was granted day parole in June but had his release privileges suspended in October after allegations about his behaviour.

Yolanda Saldívar, 64, is currently serving a life sentence for the March 1995 murder. According to Texas Department of Criminal Justice records, Saldívar will be eligible for parole on March 30, and she is currently in the parole review process.
