Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin talks about why he and many of his Republican colleagues believe fire aid for California should only come if there are some strings attached.

"House Democrats are willing to roll up our sleeves and to stay here as long as possible, to have the conversations, but at the end of the day, ultimately this will mean disaster assistance and that needs to be free from partisan conditions,

House Speaker Johnson says there is talk of placing conditions on aid for California’s wildfire victims. Some Republicans hope that will encourage California to make changes to how they prepare for wildfires.
