Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal in January showed very little in the way of games, except an untitled new Mario Kart. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to get a closer look at the company’s software lineup for Switch 2 — but we might have some helpful indicators about which of Nintendo’s internal development teams have been making software for the next-gen console for the past few years.

According to the latest leak, the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring back a popular feature from recent Nintendo console releases. Indeed, based on a new FCC filing, the Nintendo Switch 2 will support the same near field communication (NFC) technology used by the Wii U, 3DS and original Nintendo Switch.

"The original Switch's Nvidia chip is estimated to cost $80 per unit, while the Switch 2's chip is likely to be in the $130-$150 range," Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda said. "I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with $499."

In a new report by Bloomberg, analysts who are regularly in contact with Nintendo and its hardware/software partners are expecting the Nintendo Switch to carry a price tag of $400-$500 USD ($650-$795 AUD).

A newly announced indie sequel is only officially slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, but it’s claimed there are plans for a Switch 2 version as well.
