A subway rider was stabbed in the back by an apparent stranger Friday night as he stepped off a train at a Manhattan station. The 29-year-old victim had just stepped off a Brooklyn-bound L train at the First Ave.

Around 4:30 a.m., police said the 32-year-old man on an Orange Line train, in the 200 block of West Madison Street, when two men pulled stabbed victim in the left side. The victim got off the train at the Washington/Wells stop and he was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition.
