Wildlife officials said a Trinidad man shot and killed two black bear cubs that were eating his chickens outside his home Tuesday, and that a third cub has been captured and released into an area

On Friday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said a man was cited after shooting at a female bear and its’ three cubs. CPW said the bears were killing a man’s chickens in Trinidad, so the man took out a firearm and shot at the family of bears,

CPW captured the third cub, and released it back into bear habitat, away from the city. "The cub, a male estimated at about 40-pounds, was deemed healthy by CPW officers. With excellent crops of acorns and chokecherries, it should easily survive," said Mike Brown, CPW Area Wildlife Manager for the region including Trinidad.
