PHILADELPHIA — It was an early-season storyline that stuck in John Tortorella’s craw. Desperately searching for chemistry among his forwards, the Flyers coach wasn’t just placing them in the proverbial blender, but it seemed as if he was actively attempting to use every combination mathematically possible.

ELMONT, N.Y. ― Before speaking to the media on Thursday in the bowels of UBS Arena, Flyers coach John Tortorella had just shown clips to his team of the Sean Couturier-Olle Lycksell-Matvei Michkov line doing some similar things to Noah Cates’ line,

Ersson improved to 7-1-0 since Christmas, while the new line of Sean Couturier, Matvei Michkov, and Joel Farabee combined for another goal in a 2-1 win.

Joel Farabee returned to the Flyers lineup. Farabee stepped into the third-line left-winger role that Olle Lycksell had been holding down and played with Sean Couturier and Matvei Michkov.
