The Atlanta Braves are checking on starting pitching talent along with the rival New York Mets. According to New York Mets on SI’s Pat Ragazzo, both teams, among others, are interested in Padres starting pitchers Dylan Cease and Michael King. The Mets are reported to have specifically spoken with the Padres.

Late last spring, the 31-year-old switch-hitter re-signed with the Padres for $1 million plus incentives. It was his third tour with the team as he opted out of his deal after the 2022 season in search of a long-term deal. He ultimately landed with the Colorado Rockies only to rejoin the Padres in August 2023 after he was released.

The Braves recently made a move to improve their outfield but still have a ways to go to build a World Series-caliber roster and it starts with starting pitching. Here are three names Alex Anthopoulos should consider.
