Will Smith has been one of the San Jose Sharks’ better offensive players since his Jan. 11 benching. He has a goal and four assists in six games, fourth on the Sharks behind Mikael Granlund, Macklin Celebrini,

Cody Ceci and Will Smith scored in the Sharks' 7-2 loss to Panthers, who got goals from seven players in handing San Jose its sixth straight loss Saturday.

Never a huge goal-scorer, Granlund is on pace to hit 20 for the third time in his 13-year career and the first since 2017-18 with Minnesota. But the 32-year-old has been a point producer with the Sharks. He’s leading the team with 44 points in 51 contests after a scoring a team-high 60 points in 69 games last season.

With forward Evgeni Malkin sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins fell to the San Jose Sharks, 2-1, at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. on Monday. Earlier in the day, the team placed Malkin on injured reserve.
