Utah State Men’s Basketball moved back into a tie for first place in the Mountain West with a 76-71 win over conference foe UNLV. The Aggies were out for blood on Wednesday after their lone conference loss of the year came at the hand of the Runnin’ Rebels two weeks ago.
The Aggies have gone 10-1 in home games. Utah State scores 82.7 points and has outscored opponents by 15.2 points per game. The Rebels are 5-4 in MWC play. UNLV ranks ninth in the MWC with 30.7 rebounds per game led by Jeremiah Cherry averaging 5.5.
Karson Templin grabbed offensive rebound and scored to give USU a 69-59 lead with 1:48 left on the clock. The Aggies could have iced it, but over the final 90 seconds made just 7 of 14 free throws, while the Rebels scored 12 points.
That came after the Rebels had a breakout week by stacking a pair of upsets against Utah State (65-62), which was then ranked No. 22 in the country, and at San Diego State (76-68).
