Ford has issued a recall for more than 266,000 Bronco Sport crossovers and Maverick pickups due to a 12-volt battery issue that could cause a loss of motive power.
Ford issues recall on Bronco and Maverick vehicles
(ABC 6 News) — Ford is recalling more than 270,000 Broncos and Mavericks. The company says there is a power problem that can cause the cars to stop unexpectedly or fail to start. The problem is related to a battery made by a company in China.
Ford Bronco Sport and Maverick Are Recalled to Fix Faulty Batteries
The problem is due to a manufacturing defect in 12-volt starter batteries used in these vehicles. To fix the problem, Ford dealerships will replace them with new absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries, free of charge. Owners who already paid for new batteries out of pocket will be eligible for reimbursement from the automaker.
