Now officially hired, head coach Kevin Stefanski has released a statement on his decision:

The Cleveland Browns promoted Tommy Rees from tight ends coach/pass game specialist to offensive coordinator on Wednesday. "Tommy has an incredible football mind," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said.

Following a disastrous offensive season, the Cleveland Browns parted ways with Ken Dorsey after just one year as offensive coordinator but may be close to hiring his replacement as they are set to interview Klint Kubiak.

After one year on staff with the Cleveland Browns, Tommy Rees has been promoted to offensive coordinator. A former ball boy with the team, Rees spent a year as the team’s tight ends coach and passing game coordinator under OC Ken Dorsey and HC Kevin Stefanski.
