On the Raw after WrestleMania 40, Rhodes and The Rock faced off in a scintillating promo exchange that strongly hinted at a future match between the two. With Rock currently off the board for Mania, a battle with Cena is probably the next biggest match for the American Nightmare.

Winning the 2025 Royal Rumble is Cena's path towards his last championship ride and making history. Cena aims to become a 17-time World Champion at WrestleMania, surpassing Ric Flair's record. The "John Cena World Heavyweight Open Challenge" will give younger talent a spotlight in WWE.

John Cena‘s farewell tour will begin at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere on January 6. WWE announced the news during the December 30 episode of RAW. Cena previously confirmed that he would be at the show.

Unfortunately, none of those losses really served to elevate his opponents, and that should be a priority for Cena in 2025. If he’s going to lose to a “young lion” type, then it should mean something, and there’s an ideal scenario and opponent where this could work tremendously.
