Kerala Health Minister confirms mpox infection in man from UAE, urges early treatment for people returning from abroad.

The second case of the highly infectious Mpox case in India has been confirmed by the Kerala Health Minister. According to the reports, the patient, who recently returned from Dubai, exhibited symptoms of the mpox infection and was admitted to the Government Medical College hospital in Malappuram.

India had recorded a suspected case of mpox found in a man who recently travelled from a country suffering an outbreak of the virus, the health ministry said on Sunday.

She urged anyone returning from abroad to seek immediate medical attention if they develop Mpox symptoms to prevent further spread. In response to the case, Kerala has taken precautionary measures by setting up isolation wards in 14 hospitals across the state,

The patient, who arrived in Kerala a few days ago, was initially admitted to a private hospital and later transferred to Manjeri Medical College after doctors suspected monkeypox.

Kerala has reported India's second confirmed case of Mpox (monkeypox) as of Wednesday. The patient, a 38-year-old man from Malappuram, tested positive for the virus after returning from the United Arab Emirates.

Mpox infections are generally self-limiting, lasting between two and four weeks, and its patients usually recover with supportive medical care and management. It is transmitted through prolonged and close contact with an infected patient.
