From Cannes to other prestigious film festivals, German filmmaker Wim Wenders has received numerous awards, along with four Oscar nominations. However, Indian cinephiles are likely to know the director for his most recent work – Perfect Days.

The retrospective will celebrate the extraordinary career of the 79-year-old acclaimed filmmaker, photographer and author on his first trip to the country

King of the Road – The India Tour,” marking the German filmmaker’s first visit to India at age 79. The retrospective, organized with the Wim Wenders Foundation and Goethe-Institut Mumbai, will showcase 18 of his works across five cities from Feb.

German filmmaker Wim Wenders, known world over as the auteur behind films such as Wings of Desire, Paris, Texas, Anselm and Perfect Days, is all set to visit India for a career retrospective and hopes new material emerges out of his maiden trip to the country where "cinema is like a religion".
