Fans waited more than three years for Squid Game season 2 to premiere — but that won't be the case for Squid Game season 3. On Jan. 1, Netflix announced that the Korean thriller's third installment would be released in 2025.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Hwang allowed that Squid Game ‘s final third will focus on the two characters you’d most expect: Gi-hun, of course, as well as Lee Byung-hun’s Front Man. The latter slithered his way into the game as Player 001 and at times almost seemed to be sympathetic to Gi-hun’s desire to tear down the competition once and for all.

AFTER MORE THAN three years away, Squid Game finally returned for a second round with the release of its season 2 on December 26, 2024. The show picks up where things left off as our hero, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) works obsessively to use the massive wealth he amassed from winning the games in season 1 in an attempt to dismantle the games entirely.
