Though Hurricane Helene has yet to make landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the powerful storm system has already started wreaking havoc in North Carolina.

After Hurricane Helene made landfall Thursday night in the Florida, millions of residents living on the Gulf and East Coast are bracing for the storm. In North Carolina, the family of News 9 morning anchor Colby Thelen shared more about how they have been impacted.

In Helene's case, with the center of the storm passing west of us, North Carolina will be on the "dirty" side. We can expect to get heavier rain, stronger winds, and possibly a few spin-up tornadoes as Helene passes by on Friday.
