Trump began his first day as the 47th president of the United States with a dizzying display of force, signing a blizzard of executive orders that signaled his desire to remake American institutions while also pardoning nearly all of his supporters who rioted at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

The orders include declaring a national emergency to deploy military personnel to the border, suspending refugee resettlement and ending birthright citizenship.

President Trump signed a flurry of executive orders after his inauguration, including withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement and cracking down on immigration.
