As the push toward Windows 11 continues, Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 users will lose support for apps including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

With support for Windows 10 set to be dropped soon, Microsoft has confirmed Office/M365 apps will also lose support.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

Microsoft is officially calling it quits on Windows 10 in 2025, and it's taking Microsoft 365 apps along with it — kind of.

Windows 10 isn't the only Microsoft product that is due to lose support this coming October. In a blog post published Wednesday, the software giant said Microsoft 365 apps (aka Office) will no longer be supported in Windows 10 after Oct. 14, 2025. To continue using Microsoft 365 or Office, the company urges users to upgrade to Windows 11.

Microsoft will end support for Microsoft 365 for Windows 10 this October, so you'll need to buy a new Windows 11 PC.

Microsoft says an earlier blog post contained inaccurate information about changes to the Windows 11 upgrade path.

A blog post claiming that the free upgrade to Windows 11 was for a "limited time only" appears to have been a mistake.
