Even though many of us are still digging out of the weekend's winter storm, another one is taking aim at the Ohio Valley. CLOSURES | INTERACTIVE RADAR| ACTIVE WEATHER ALERTS A winter storm watch has already been issued for later this week.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56) — A winter storm made its way across the Ohio Valley from Jan. 5-6, with snow and sleet totals ranging from 6-12 inches across northern Kentucky and southern Indiana, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). In addition, the NWS said Kentucky saw 0.25-0.75 inches of ice.

The Tennessee Valley could see some of the heaviest snowfall, with 6 inches expected on Friday. A wide swath of the country is under winter weather warnings and advisories and will see impacts including "widespread closures, treacherous travel, scattered power outages, and downed branches," the weather service said.

A winter storm watch is active in southern Kentucky until late Friday night as much of the commonwealth is expected to receive more snow Friday.

A winter storm warning for Franklin County will go into effect at 4 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service in Louisville issued the warning through 7 a.m. Saturday. Friday’s forecast calls for heavy snow with 3 to 6 inches expected and a high temp of 31.
