Jul 22, 2024 · OPD announced it would not be renewing its contract with StarChase at a June 6 meeting with the city of Oakland’s Privacy Advisory Commission, which counsels the city on surveillance technologies. Lieutenant Steve Toribio told the commission the department deployed StarChase trackers three times in 2023.
