I booted up the computer again and never realized it was down to 16 GB instead of the originally installed 32 GB. Once my RAM went from 32 GB to 16 GB, MSFS performance started to suffer.

Apr 1, 2021 · I would think having faster RAM makes a bigger difference but could be wrong. That depends on the whole platform but memory speed is important as well, but not as much as the amount. As long as you have enough RAM it should not matter whether you have 32GB or 64GB, but I have seen MSFS using close to 28GB of RAM.
