Great Wave prints break just short of $900,000
Sep 18, 2024 · Two copies of the Great Wave, a legendary Japanese print, have each realised just short of $900,000 at separate auctions in New York. Bonhams sold a copy for $889,500 (including premium) on September 18, a day after another copy had been auctioned at Christie’s for $856,800. The Wave was printed by Katsushika Hokusai in 1831.
$5-million Z Grill stamp to top most valuable stamp auction ever?
Mar 13, 2024 · The incredibly rare Z Grill is the treasure of William H Gross’s collection, one of the greatest in history. The stamp carries an estimate of $4 million to $5 million, so could double the $2 million paid for an Inverted Jenny last November. The value of this nondescript stamp, with a Benjamin Franklin portrait, is in its “Z Grill”.
